Qualcomm is gearing up for a new launch event where the company is speculated to announce its latest flagship processor — Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which is said to be an underclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 on March 18.

The CPU configuration of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is said to be identical to that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, featuring a single high-performance core, four medium-performance cores (Cortex-A720), and three efficiency cores (Cortex-A520). However, all the cores will have a lower clock speed, and the high-performance core, based on Cortex-X4, is said to offer a peak clock speed of 3.01GHz. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is also expected to offer an integrated AI processor

Other features like connectivity, image processing, and networking on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 are likely to be similar to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Due to the lower clock speed, it is likely to render improved power efficiency, resulting in better battery life.

Similarly, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is also expected to include a new Adreno 735 graphics chip, which is said to be a low-powered version of the Adreno 750 featured on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, with a slightly lower clock speed. Considering the lower clock speeds, the upcoming Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 might not match the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Besides the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, Qualcomm is also speculated to announce a new mid-tier Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, which is likely to be used on upcoming mid-tier smartphones. According to reports, the new chip is expected to feature flagship-grade Adreno 732 graphics and could deliver almost flagship-level graphics performance.
