A Former Deputy Commissioner of Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) along with a Customs House Agent and a Businessman who is an importer of toys due to an alleged bribery case of Rs.1 Lakh.
A retired Deputy Commissioner informed that a case was registered against the accused on the allegations of conspiring to influence the public servants to get cleared a toys consignment that was stopped by the customs officials using their influence. Also, the allegations were made on the Deputy Commissioner that he has asked Rs.1 lakh from other accused for using his influence in Customs department to get cleared his stuck consignment of toys.
CBI found the bribe of Rs.1 lakh from Retired Deputy Commissioner’s car when they had gone to arrest him and also the other two accused were also arrested for allegedly giving undue advantage to said Deputy Commissioner(Retd).
Accused Person’s residential premises in Delhi were searched that had led to the recovery of incriminating documents. Also, the accused that are arrested should be produced in front of the Competent Court at Delhi on September 3rd, 2020.
