The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has removed from the Register of Members the four names of Chartered Accountants (CAs) who are CA Amit Vasant Chheda, CA Shailendra Srivastava, CA Hemant Tulsidas Merchant and CA Sujit Kumar Bhattacharyya.
CA Amit Vasant Chheda, Laud Bhuvan, Road No. 24-A, Jain Society, Sion West, Mumbai-400 022 has been held guilty of professional misconduct which falls within the meaning of Clause (1) of Part II of the Second Schedule to the aforesaid Act, by the Disciplinary Committee and therefore ordered for the removal of the name of CA.
“It is hereby notified that the name of said CA. Amit Vasant Chheda (Membership No. 142913), shall stand removed from the Register of Members for a period of 06 (Six) months with effect from 25th September 2020,” says ICAI’s notification.
The Committee found CA. Shailendra Srivastava, 117/22-A, N Block, Rani Ganj, Kakadeo, Kanpur-208 025, guilty of Professional Misconduct concerning Clauses (8) and (9) of Part I of the First Schedule and Clause (1) of Part II of the Second Schedule to the aforesaid Act and hence passed the order for removal of his name from the Register of Members for a period of six months and also imposed a fine of Rs.10,000.
“It is hereby notified that the name of said CA. Shailendra Srivastava (Membership No. 401597), shall stand removed from the Register of Members for a period of 06(Six) months with effect from 25th September 2020,” the notification said.
CA. Hemant Tulsidas Merchant, Flat No. 4, 1st Floor, Sai Manzil, 18, Altamount Road, Mumbai- 400 026, found guilty of Professional Misconduct, the first-mentioned case concerning the meaning of Clause (9) of Part I of the First Schedule and Clause (7) of Part I of the Second Schedule in and Clause(s) (7) & (8) of Part I of Second Schedule to the aforesaid Act in the second-mentioned case and thus got his name removed from the Register of Members for a period of 18 months for the first case and 3 more years for the second case.
“It is hereby notified that the name of said CA. Hemant Tulsidas Merchant (Membership No. 033805), shall stand removed from the Register of Members for a total period of 4(four) years and 6(six) months with effect from September 25, 2020,” clarifies the notification.
The Disciplinary Committee has held CA. Sujit Kumar Bhattacharyya, P-143 Lake Town Block A, Ground Floor, P S Lake Town, Kolkata 700 089, guilty of Professional Misconduct falling within the meaning of Clause (4) of Part I of the Second Schedule to the aforesaid Act, therefore ordered for the removal of the name of aforesaid CA from the Register of Members for a period of 3 months.
The notification said, “It is hereby notified that the name of said CA. Sujit Kumar Bhattacharyya (Membership No. 011590), shall stand removed from the Register of Members for a period of 03 (three) months with effect from 25th September 2020.”
