The Central Government on Tuesday notified December 31, 2020, as the cut-off date for filing declaration under the Vivad Se Vishwas Act, 2020.

It also extended for the third time the deadline for making payment under the direct tax dispute settlement scheme ‘Vivad Se Vishwas’ by three months to March 31, 2021.

On March 17, 2020, the Direct Tax Vivad Se Vishwas Act, 2020 got enacted to settle direct tax disputes that are locked up in various appellate forums.

The Government’s notification said, “31st day of December 2020 shall be the date, on or before which a declaration shall be filed to the designated authority, by the declarant, in accordance with the provisions of section 4 of the said Act in respect of tax arrear.”

It further added, “The 1st day of April 2021 shall be the date on or after which the amount payable under the said Act shall be paid as per the fourth column of the Table to section 3 of the said Act.”
