“ACES lacks the post filing alerting mechanism (as on date) and this becomes a big pain for all the filers” – CA Ankit Gulgulia (Jain)
If you are required to file service tax returns (ST-3) for your clients or your companies this post is for you.
ACES is the governing portal of Central Excise and Service tax Automation in India. We all know that there are several technicalities which hound the functionality of ACES and its module.
One of such is non ability of ACES to alert the filer of ST-3 return for any causes of rejection of the return that is filed and uploaded in the portal. This is explained in detailed as hereunder:-
Say that you have prepared your returns on either offline or online mode and you have filed the same on the portal very much within the due dates deadline. Even after proper filing ACES can reject your returns on account of several reasons like Amount mismatch (even Rs 1/- difference is good enough) or challan detail mismatch etc. ACES lacks the post filing alerting mechanism (as on date) and this becomes a big pain for all the filer. Hence are the filers are advised to keep tracking the xml status of file uploaded until it suggests “FILED”.
On a wider note, it is appealed to administrators to incorporate direct web-linking to the relevant database of challans etc as integration in the return forms itself to provide convenience and accuracy facilitation to the filers. The same is successfully implemented and executed by several statutory departments including Income tax and MCA 21. The same if required can be also handed over as project to independent IT companies as done by ROC with TCS or Infosys etc.
